Every Friday, De Bouwkroniek hits the mailboxes of some 2,000 architectural firms and building contractors. Thanks to the up-to-date information in this trade journal, they win more orders and stand out from the competition. But how does De Bouwkroniek remain a step ahead of the pack? Through the quick service of Daddy Kate.
Let’s rewind to Wednesday morning. The print-ready files, freshly delivered by De Bouwkroniek, arrive at the printers. Daddy Kate immediately starts making proofs and plates, working day and night to print and finish the magazine. Occasionally there are further supplements to be integrated too. The next afternoon, Thursday, before 15:00., we deliver the complete print run to the distributor.
Printing a magazine is often done very quickly using web offset presses. Because of the rather limited run of 2,000 copies, we opted for sheet-fed offset, and with the customer we looked for the best workflow to make this possible. For example, we print the covers and any supplements in advance. The weekly magazine has a fixed volume of 96 pages, so there are no surprises. What’s more, De Bouwkroniek always delivers the material on time, so we can reserve the necessary time slots on our machines. But it’s the flexible changeover from a two-shift to a three-shift system at Daddy Kate that was the deciding factor.
